Last Weeks Quiz: No Winners

1

 Going Digital

As of Wednesday, April 9th, ABA will no longer sell tangible products of any kind. We have spent the last two weeks digitizing everything we have, so that we can “deal in downloads”.

It seems totally appropriate to me. I teach musicians how to make their own recordings, and how to market them on-line. What better way to receive my books and seminars, than through your computer?

As of today, the products page includes an Audio Book on CD. That will be going away. It seems to me that if customers want to take the book with them, they can burn it themselves. Or, they can get out of the Stone Age and buy an IPOD. There is a seminar about the recording process, on DVD. That too is going away. As of Wednesday, The Recording Process will only be available as a downloadable webinar. If customers want to watch the seminar on their television, they can burn it themselves. Or, they can get out of the Stone Age and get the internet on their televisions. When are people going to catch up?

The good news is that all of the prices will drop. No more printing, no more boxing and no more shipping; equals lower prices. Also, customers will get instant gratification when purchasing. The files will download immediately.

Independent Artist Digital Promotion

If you are an independent artist promoting and selling your own music in this advanced technological, digital age; there are new companies popping up every week that help the independent promote, sell, and market their own work.

Art Beyond Audio is one of those companies. The way of the future is digital.  From music to books and movies; soon you will be able to listen to free steaming internet radio in your car.  Art Beyond Audio is launching JUNX RADIO, a radio station for the independent.  We at ABA accept any music for any independent world wide.  How is this different from other companies that have internet streaming radio?  We accept all artists?

This is crucial for any independent artist who wants to profit the most from their work and not sell out to recording contracts.  It is another venue that will help to promote their work.

ABA is here to help advertise your music to the world.  We are here to educate, so you may learn from the experts who have been in the business for ten years.

Berklee's newest venue opens with an exciting lineup for April. A state-of-the-art, all-ages, student-run music venue and coffee house, Cafe 939 will showcase Berklee's emerging student talent, local artists, and national acts. First up: the Miguel Zenón Quartet will launch a series featuring Marsalis Music recording artists.

In addition to all that's going on at Cafe 939 this month, Berklee is hosting a musical memorial for faculty favorite Herb Pomeroy, a symposium with Diet for a Small Planet author Frances Moore Lappé, a CD release concert from student-run Jazz Revelation Records, and much more.

The range of luminaries on campus last month mirrored Berklee students' wide variety of interests, with a hip-hop symposium, a panel on video game music, and visits by former Warner CEO Richard Blackstone and vocalist Bobby McFerrin, among others. Read on to find out what advice they had to share.
